According to a NewsCorp Australian Papers article, some marriage counselors say Facebook is to blame for a marked increase in divorce rates.
Although there is no way to accurately measure whether people would have strayed outside their marriages if Facebook wasn't around, one British divorce agency said Facebook was cited in one fifth of divorce petitions processed last year.
I personally know of two marriages that were ended after one spouse made a "connection" on-line using Facebook.

ReplyDeleteI think any online social networking site can be the blame. You can find what you are looking for anywhere online, key words, "looking for". I don't think the blame is on the site, its on the person that was looking for another mate intentionally.
This article doesnt surprise me at all, facebook and other social networking sites can potentially be the root of all evil for couples that are dating. All relationships hit bumps in the road and i've seen alot of couple break up or get in fights over what their significant other is doing on a social networking site
ReplyDeleteSocial network can be a fact why couples break up. There are a lot of things said on these sites. however, people are responsable for what they post and look for. It is up to the person to make it happen or not.
